Matt’s extensive experience in monitoring, control and automation projects in multiple industries worldwide has inspired him to develop a new generation of Monitoring and Control platform that merges Industrial IoT with SCADA Systems.

Matt is an active member of IEEE, APEGGA and APEGBC. He presently serves as a Vicechair of the Southern Alberta IEEE Control Systems and Instrumentation joint chapters. He is also a member of the board of directors of Alberta IoT Association.

Presentation Abstract

Conventional SCADA systems have been lacking several key features that IT teams need before they can integrate OT and IT applications into a unified system. Issues such as security, scalability, cross application data commucnaiton challenges have resulted in a series of disjointed and incompatible systems that are difficult to integrate and maintain.

On the other hand, during the last 10 years, several new cloud-based technologies have emerged under the umbrella of IoT (or Industrial IoT) to address the accessibility to the field data. These new technologies are highly isolated and provide little flexibility for the end customers to integrate their data across multiple platforms; Furthermore, majority of the IoT systems are not designed to meet some of the core security and reliability issues that both IT and OT departments require for maintaining a secured and reliable production system.

In this presentation, Mr. Matt Eskandar, president of MR Control Systems will go over the challenges that his company has experienced over the last 20 years to address some of the above challenges and how MR Control Systems has been able to come up with a quite a new and revolutionary solution that will meet both IT and OT requirements for a wide range of applications.

Alberta IoT is working alongside NRCC (National Research Council of Canada) to build out ecosystem projects with international companies. For our very first project, we are looking to our members to see if they are a fit with the criteria below as well as have an interest.

• Are you part of the Electronic Components and Systems value chain?
• Do you want to access new markets, technologies and skills?
• Do you want to work with partners beyond national borders, developing new products, and accelerating your time-to-market?
• Are you looking for a fast and flexible funding instrument dedicated to trans-national European projects?
